WHAT IS A DESTINATION WEDDING?
That's a technical term! A destination wedding, or "destination wedding" in the language of Shakespeare, is simply holding a wedding abroad regardless of the number of guests (unlike elopement, which is limited to about twenty guests). It therefore involves travel for the bride and groom as well as all their guests. The course of a destination wedding is often similar to that of a traditional wedding: civil, religious, or secular ceremony as you prefer, a reception, couple's photo session, and even a brunch the morning after. The only major difference lies in the (agonizing) choice of your destination.
HOW DOES A DESTINATION WEDDING UNFOLD?
As a wedding planner, I am often approached by future spouses for destination weddings because the distance and/or the language intimidate them when it comes to organization. How to plan the course of such a wonderful day when the service providers do not speak French? How to make choices regarding reception venues, caterers, or DJs when choosing to get married on the other side of the world? What about all the administrative formalities to get married on-site?
Your first task will be to make a list of destinations that you would like as well as the theme you would want for your wedding. The goal is to avoid all useless or unnecessary meetings and to introduce you to serious and qualified service providers who will meet your event's needs! No stress or worries, it's my guarantee.
